In a bid to cater to the growing trend of cashless payments, JCB International has joined forces with PAYONE to bring JCB Contactless and J/Secure to Germany and Austria.
This partnership aims to provide greater convenience to JCB’s 154 million cardmembers and PAYONE’s vast network of merchant partners in both in-store and ecommerce transactions.
PAYONE, a collaboration between Worldline and the DSV Group that serves 277,000 merchants spanning various industries, is gearing up to provide a seamless and secure payment experience.
JCB Contactless, adhering to the EMV® international standard for chip cards, ensures top-notch security for every transaction, especially beneficial for JCB cardholders traveling abroad. JCB’s J/Secure authentication program further fortifies online transactions, enhancing security by allowing cardmembers to directly authenticate their cards with the issuer.
Ray Shinzawa, managing director of JCB International, highlighted the benefit of the partnership in unlocking spending opportunities for European brands in the Asian market.
“We are proud to be the gateway for our European partners who want to access valuable Asian spend, both in-store and online,” said Shinzawa. German and Austrian brands are particularly popular with our Cardmembers, who appreciate the quality and excellence of goods and services across the region. Our collaboration with PAYONE supports our strategy to unlock these spending opportunities internationally.”
Ottmar Bloching, CEO of PAYONE, also commented: “Contactless payments and online shopping have developed rapidly in recent years – especially during the pandemic. Thanks to the extended partnership with JCB, a payment method that is firmly anchored in the Asian end-consumer consciousness, we offer our merchant customers the opportunity to make online payments even more secure and to expand the POS with another international contactless payment option.”
This collaboration seeks to bridge the gap between European merchants and Asian consumers while ensuring secure and convenient payment experiences. It reflects the evolving landscape of cashless payments and the drive to offer innovative solutions for merchants and consumers alike.
