One of Australia’s largest annual fintech events, FinTech Australia, has announced its key speakers and line-up for this year’s Intersekt event.
Scott Farell, one of the key architects of Australia’s Consumer Data Right, and Anthony Eisen, an executive at Afterpay, are officially confirmed to headline the Intersekt conference by FinTech Australia in 2023.
Last year’s event saw over 900 delegates attend from over 280 startup fintech companies, 280 corporate companies and 40 government agencies attended the event.
This year’s fintech event is set to take place at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne on 30 and 31 August and will tackle major themes in the sector, including AI and the increasing importance of social impact in fintech. Key issues in payments, regtech, crypto, banking and the consumer data right will all also be addressed.
Rehan D’Almeida, general manager of FinTech Australia, said: “This year’s event is shaping up to be our most interesting to date. There are so many trends and macro factors affecting the fintech industry. We’re seeing the rise of AI, Australia potentially tipping into a recession and rising interest rates all affect our fintechs.
“Intersekt will serve as a crucial event to take stock of it all and help fintechs navigate this truly fascinating, but equally challenging, period.
“Last year, we bought the venue to capacity. There was a waiting list for tickets weeks before the event. We’re urging all in the industry who would like to attend to register early this year to avoid disappointment. We are also expecting a larger international delegation this year, with interested parties from the UK, Singapore, New Zealand, Canada, India and Hong Kong.”
Australia’s fintech event set to be the “biggest yet”
Intersekt will feature two full days of fireside chats, presentations and discussion of major themes in the sector. In addition, the event will also host a third stage this year for ‘master classes’ and deep-dive analysis content aimed at educating business leaders.
In partnership with The University of Sydney, global financial infrastructure platform for businesses Stripe, also plans to unveil new research on the future of digital payments in Australia at the event.
Karl Durrance, managing director of Australia and New Zealand at Stripe, discussed the planned research launch: “This year’s Intersekt looks set to be the biggest yet and I look forward to being amongst the best and brightest of our nation’s fintech ecosystem to discuss all that’s happened over the past year. I’m especially excited to unveil Stripe’s latest research on payment trends across Australia to ensure businesses of all sizes are best equipped with the tools and knowledge to future-proof their ventures.”
