Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, a division of Dubai Chambers, has unveiled a new initiative aimed at assisting tech companies in setting up and scaling up their operations in Dubai.
The initiative offers a comprehensive package of services tailored to support tech and digital startups, SMEs, and multinational corporations planning to establish their businesses in the city.
The announcement took place during a ceremony held at Dubai Chambers’ headquarters, with the presence of His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, and Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, along with Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, president and CEO of Dubai Chambers.
His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, executive chairman of Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), and Amna Rashed Lootah, board member of Dubai Commercity, were also in attendance.
As part of the event, the chamber inked strategic partnership agreements with several companies to support the initiative, including Dubai CommerCity, Safexpay, e&, and Telr. Additional partnerships are also expected to be formed ahead of the platform’s launch in September.
His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama commented on the initiative, emphasising its alignment with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance the ease of doing business and access to services. Al Olama highlighted the importance of the initiative in achieving the goal of attracting 300 digital startups to the emirate by 2024, further solidifying Dubai’s position as a global hub for the digital economy.
He added: “We look forward to supporting the success of more innovative companies and further strengthening Dubai’s dynamic investment environment as we continue on our journey towards doubling the contribution of the digital economy to the UAE’s non-oil GDP within 10 years.”
Setting up in Dubai
The new initiative aims to provide convenient access to a wide range of services required by companies to establish their presence in Dubai, offering a comprehensive ‘one-stop shop’ for licensing services, banking solutions, office space, cloud services, and other essential requirements.
Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy has outlined its strategy for 2022 to 2024, which centers on enhancing the digital business environment, providing support for digital companies, and attracting international digital businesses.The ultimate goal is to position Dubai as one of the world’s most agile and diversified technology-enabled digital hubs. The chamber’s recent success includes attracting 30 digital startups during the first quarter of 2023, reflecting its instrumental role in solidifying Dubai’s digital leadership position.
In line with its efforts to amplify the success of Dubai’s digital ecosystem, the chamber has hosted international roadshows and events to attract startups and global unicorn companies to the emirate. It has also launched various groundbreaking initiatives, including partnering with the renowned Expand North Star platform to bring together hundreds of startups, investors, and key stakeholders.
